Who is this guy?
“Mr. G.” is the name I use when teaching my classes. I expect some of my students to read this column at some point, so I’m sticking with my teaching name for this blog.
What I teach: Math Olympiads (contest math), Chess, Instrumental Performance, and Leadership. Occasionally I’ll instruct other subjects such as baking, public speaking, tennis, and Spanish.
Needless to say, I’m passionate about college football, and especially the Pac-12. I’ve been a fan since I was a kid. My mom and I are UCLA graduates while my dad went to Stanford as an undergrad — then to USC for grad school. Most of my extended family are Trojan backers (although there are a few Bruins as well).
If you’ve read any of the blog posts you will have noticed that I’m uncompromising in my analysis. I may be easygoing as a person, but I am virtually impossible to please as a sports writer. Rare indeed is the coach or player who warrants praise from this writer’s pen. What can I say? I’m a perfectionist.
My thanks to you for reading. If you enjoyed the column, please tell others about it — they’ll likely enjoy it too!
